Fix Windows 7 Update Error Code 8007000E

I frequently see a Windows 7 SP1 issue where, after a fresh install, Windows Updates fail with error code 8007000E:

Running the Windows Update Troubleshooter is not helpful as it simply reports that it cannot find a solution to the problem.

To fix this, go to Control Panel > Programs and Features > View Installed Updates.  Search for and remove the following two updates: KB253411 and KB2639308

NOTE: Only one of these updates may be installed instead of both.

Uninstall these updates, restart the computer, and check for Windows Updates again.  Be very patient, as it may take some time.
